Foothold Now helps you build practice ladders: name what you’re working toward, break it into steps written in your own words, rate each step 0–100 by how hard it feels, and practice them one small step at a time—gently, on repeat—until each one loses its grip.
The method is rooted in exposure and response prevention (ERP) and graded exposure—approaches with strong evidence for easing anxiety and the obsessions and compulsions of OCD. Each ladder is what practitioners call an exposure hierarchy, and the 0–100 ratings are SUDS scores—Subjective Units of Distress.
